ABOUT

"Hi, I'm Suzanne, I'm a Christian mom of three, and I just bought a BAR!"

Those were the first words I said to my team before I started describing the reason behind my desire to own and operate a yoga studio.

It's not an understatement to say that yoga changed my life and it set me on a mission to offer the same experience to as many people as possible, in an accessible and meaningful way.

At Pop Yoga, we want you to come as you are. None of us has it all together, and the good news is that we don't have to!

SUZANNE JONES, RYT 500, is the founder is POP Yoga. She fell in love with yoga when she discovered its potential to positively impact her physical, spiritual, and mental strength. Suzanne's desire is to teach and encourage others on their journey to becoming strong in spirit, soul, and body. Her teaching combines traditional yoga with a bit of modern strengthening exercises. When taking a class with Suzanne, expect a challenge and a lot of fun!

JULIE MCGAHEY, RYT 200, was initially drawn to yoga for both the mental and physical benefits that it provides - specifically when I was recovering from breast cancer.  She was a student of yoga for 10 years before she decided to enroll in a 200 HR yoga teacher training program.  Before moving to Columbus, she taught at Embrace Yoga Studio, at the fitness center on Ft. Bragg and at Advanced Physical Therapy - all located in Fayetteville, NC, where my husband was stationed with the Army.

ELISE FEINBERG, RYT 200, has been practicing yoga for over 18 years. For three years, she studied with Sarah Nordin, a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. She's also attended workshops with Eddy Marks, Mary Obendorfer, and Livia Shapiro-Cohen. In February 2017, at the age of 70, Elise completed her 200 hour teacher certification at Yogafly in Auburn, AL. She's proof that you can practice and benefit from yoga at any age.

SUE ROYER, RYT 500, is passionate about keeping fit and feeling good as she ages.  She has the training and knowledge to help others while making it fun!  Her 20+ year yoga practice was recently enhanced by anatomy, healthcare and exercise science at Columbus Tech. No matter what your issues (and we all have some) she can customize a program for your benefit. For several years she has taught Dr. Fishman’s program for students with osteoporosis and osteopenia. Sue had a 30 year art career as a printmaker and decorative painter. She is an avid wife, friend, gardener and grandmother who has lived in Columbus since 1973. Sue started our thriving POP Garden!

BROOKE SCHNEIDER, RYT 200, was first drawn to yoga in 2014. Though she began seeking a class for simply stretching, she quickly saw the mental, spiritual, and emotional benefits of the practice. Yoga inspired Brooke to also work on herself off the mat through her passions for writing and speaking. Brooke's classes focus on gratitude and connecting the magic 5 senses in order to tap into the Divine that is within each of us.

CANDICE MCGARVEY, RYT 500, has a lighthearted approach to teaching, her goals is that students leave their practice filled with joy, feeling seen and known. It’s nice to have fun on the mat. She is registered with the National Yoga Alliance and specializes in power vinyasa, focusing on core strength and balance. Her favorite pose is the chaturanga which makes her feel strong and lizard to loosen things up. She is a wife, a mom and lover of Jesus. She rarely is without a cup of coffee in hand.

MARY LIWANAG, RYT 500, came to yoga 23 years ago when her son was a toddler. It was an "AH HA!" moment when she realized her actions on the mat mirrored her reactions to life. Mary's love for yoga and the Lord is evident in her classes. She has worked as a registered nurse, enjoys writing and editing, BUT yoga is her home!
